This may be a new blog, but I’m not new to the blogging world. I’ve had a blog on Blogger since 2011 and, while I’ve had a love/hate relationship with blogging over the past year, I’ve missed it and wanted a fresh start. The site that hosted my blog logos started malfunctioning, which felt like the perfect excuse to start fresh.
I’ve wanted to move to WordPress for a while but didn’t want to actually do the work to migrate my full content over. Instead, I’ll select some of my favourite posts from my old blog to migrate over, refreshing and restarting some old features that I’d love to continue.
Like so many others, the new year is a time of reflecting on the past year and setting new intentions for the coming year. In the past, I’ve created a whole list of goals that I want to accomplish over the coming year. This year, I’ve decided to adopt a strategy that I’ve seen others do and pick a word that represents my intentions, rather than a list of specific goals.
That word is RECONNECT.
I want to reconnect with many things over the coming year, from writing, to blogging, to fitness, and so many more. By setting this word as my intention, it gives me the freedom to focus my intentions on things that I need to do to feel reconnected, but without necessarily having the pressure to check off a list of specific resolutions. For example, I’d like to drink more water, but if I go a week without drinking enough water, I won’t feel like I’ve failed. Instead, the next week, I’ll remember to bring my water bottle to work and reconnect with my intention. I feel like I’ll be setting myself up for success this way.
I hope that you’ll all enjoy what I plan to share on this new blog. It’s clean, it’s simple, it’s less cluttered than my old one, and already I feel reconnected to the act of putting my words out there in cyberspace.
Happy New Year friends, and may 2020 bring you all happiness, love, and peace.
