Finally back on track with posting a bit closer to the end of the quarter! I read some amazing books this quarter.
Come Away with Me by Karma Brown. My dear friend Dany recommended this book to me the first time we went to the Chilliwack book sale, and I can’t believe I sat on it for so long! It was such an incredibly powerful love story and one that I did not see coming — it packed quite the emotional sucker punch.
Pucking Around by Emily Rath. I’m using the first book as a placeholder, but really the entire series consumed my entire personality in July, and then the ANTICIPATION of Pucking Sweet, combined with getting my hands on a physical copy TWO DAYS EARLY in September — this series and these characters have me in an absolute chokehold and I’m obsesed.
Play Along by Liz Tomforde. Speaking of obsessed, I actually paused my consumption of the Jacksonville Rays for one reason, and one reason only, and that was to inhale this book — the love I have for this series can scarcely be put into words, and I’m not sure I will be okay after Rio’s book!
Pack Up the Moon by Kristan Higgins. Another book that absolutely GUTTED me – it had traces of P.S. I Love You, except that the wife left the letters, and I loved every minute of it — not sure it’s quite a forever favourite, or that I’ll read more by the author, but certainly a great book regardless.
Redeeming 6 by Chloe Walsh. I fully intended to binge read this entire series as they dropped, but my heart definitely needed some time after Keeping 13 and I’m glad I gave it a rest for a bit — it certainly made reading this book hit harder, and now I’m giving myself the same pause before I tackle Taming 7.
Pretend You’re Mine by Lucy Score. After falling in love with Maggie Moves On, and then the Knockemout series, I keep buying Lucy’s books, but not actually reading them. My two besties and I pick a book during our birthday month, and then we all read it and go to dinner to chat about it — super low key kind of book club! This was my friend’s pick and I’m so glad it pushed me to get back into Lucy’s writing because now I’m excited to read more of her books!
Wild Eyes by Elsie Silver. No one should be surprised that when Elsie’s drops a new book, that it ends up on my favourites list. West’s story was incredible but I don’t think he’s quite topped Cade (because that’s the lastest craziness going around online!)
Honourable Mentions
Perfect Strangers by J.T. Geissenger. Another of my bookish besties recommended this one and gave it five stars so I knew I need to pick it up. It was the perfect read coming out of a busy work week where I needed to find my reading groove again, and boy did it deliver! Just the right amount of spiciness and combined with some twists that I did NOT see coming and I devoured it.
Heartstopper Series by Alice Oseman. If I added all five volumes to my stack, it would overwhelm all of the other books! I decided on a whim to reread the series, since it was a readathon weekend where pages counted for points, and the third season is releasing this week. It ended up being perfectly fitting that volume 1 was my 100th book of 2024 too — I love this series with my whole heart and cannot WAIT to watch the new season!
Are any of these books your favourites too? Are you going to watch the new season of Heatstopper this week?
