Reading Goals

Be intentional about my book purchases.

I made great progress on my unread shelves in 2025, but I also still bought a lot of books – in 2026, I’m going to be more intentional about adding books that I know I want to keep: forever favourites and auto-buy authors.

Continue to prioritize reading the books I own.

I did a huge unhaul of books last summer that I’ve lost interest in reading, and I’m generally excited about the remaining books on my shelves – while I still intend to read books from KU, I do want to make sure that the majority of my reading this year is from books that I physically own.

Complete some series and make progress in others.

I’ve created updated series trackers in my reading journal, and included series that I started on KU — I’m starting with 24 series where I own physical books and 16 series that I’m reading on KU. I would love to chop both numbers in half, but my main goal is ending the year with less series than I started, as I know that I will add more as the year goes on since some of my auto-buy authors have new series starting in 2026!

Maybe, just maybe, read all 26 books on my 2026 list?

I’m not sharing my list publicly again this year – and maybe, just maybe, this will be the year I read it all. It’s been ten years since I started this challenge, and I have yet to read a full list … doing it on the ten-year anniversary feels like it would be such a great accomplishment!

Journal about my reading.

I’ve been doing a reading journal for a few years now, and I find that I enjoyed writing my reading updates privately instead of sharing reviews on my online platforms or posting here. It’s also helping me stop and reflect about the books that I’ve read instead of immediately jumping into a new book.

Blog at least once a month.

Starting the podcast this year had me dusting off the blog, and I enjoyed sharing a cross-post every now and then – once a month feels acheivable.

MOOD READ the crap out of 2026.

I have been, and always will be, a mood reader – I’ve been dabbling back into TBRs a bit with one of the reading challenges that I’m participating in, but I don’t think I’ll ever turn into a TBR girlie again, so the goal for this year is to just read where the mood takes me!
